John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award
Created in 1989 by Kennedy family members, the award is given out annually as an acknowledgement of how many people JFK inspired to follow their own dreams of making a difference. He inspired them to work for the communities in which they live and the world as a whole in order to make it a better place.
All you have to do to compete for this scholarship is write a thousand word essay that shows you understand what political courage is, according to how JFK describes it “Profiles in Courage.” Use multiple sources that may included newspapers, books, or even interviews. The winner of this challenge will receive a $10,000 scholarship to be applied to his or her college tuition. The winner will also take a trip to the Profile of Courage Award ceremony to accept the award in person.
